AI Ethics and Safeguarding in Education

This certification programme provides a thorough grounding in the ethical and safeguarding considerations that underpin responsible AI use in education.

The programme covers six core areas: data protection and privacy (including GDPR and the Children's Code), algorithmic bias and fairness, academic integrity, safeguarding risks specific to AI tools, legal liability, and ethical frameworks for decision-making.

Each week combines expert-led seminars with scenario-based learning. Participants work through real case studies drawn from UK schools and colleges, analysing what went well, what went wrong, and what could have been done differently.

Assessment is through a portfolio of reflective case analyses and a final scenario examination. Successful participants receive an AIE certification in AI Ethics and Safeguarding.
