Developing an AI strategy for your MAT

This guidance document walks MAT central teams through the process of developing a trust-wide AI strategy.

It covers stakeholder engagement, needs assessment, governance framework design, procurement protocols, CPD planning, and monitoring and evaluation.

The guide is structured around six phases (Assess, Design, Pilot, Deploy, Monitor, Review) with practical tools and templates for each phase.

It draws on case studies from five MATs that have developed and implemented AI strategies, ranging from a 8-school trust to a 45-school trust, providing models that can be adapted to different scales and contexts.
