/ Overview

This position paper makes the case for a coordinated national strategy for AI education in the UK, spanning early years through higher education and into workplace training.

The paper argues that the current fragmented approach, with individual schools, MATs, and universities each developing their own AI strategies in isolation, is creating significant inequity and duplication of effort.

It proposes five pillars for a national strategy: curriculum integration, teacher professional development, governance and ethics standards, research infrastructure, and international collaboration.

Each pillar is supported by evidence from AIE's research programme and international comparisons, with specific policy recommendations for government, Ofsted, exam boards, and the higher education sector.
